It Was Merry and Bright Happy Day Before the Day Before New Years Eve! Does anyone even do resolutions anymore? I just don't want to start off yet another year beginning with a lie. So let's just forget about it this year ok? I hope all your holidays were merry. Michael and I agreed not to get each other gifts this year. Autumn got her dad a book all about beers around the world. And she got her mom the 10th season of Friends. My collection now complete. There was a coupon for a trivia game..Hopefully it's not the pitiful game Lynn and I got a few years back. Remember that game??? Could it BE any stoopider?? (I know stoopider is not even a word, get over it) Anyway, back to Christmas (yes CHRISTMAS) Autumn got lots of art supplies. I got her a paint by numbers canvas of a cat. I bought a Van Gogh Sunflowers for myself. When we're done, I'll post them for your laughing eyes viewing pleasure. She purchased with her own money a Nintendo DS and games Nintendogs (virtual pet) and a Sims game. Her Sim has caught on fire and died twice. Good times. Christmas in July It's about 50 degrees out. Sun is burried above the blanket of fog and low lying clouds that will bring in the next storm. And that daughter of mine is wearing shorts. You heard me. I guess I should be happy they are not short shorts. Because that would be too girly. They are long basketball shorts and I'm pretty sure they are boys. This is the same girl you'll find wearing a sweatshirt in the desert-like heat in August. Let me tell you this, you do NOT want to be within smelling distance of a pre-teen child wearing a sweatshirt in the heat. Trust me on this one. I decided not to say anything to her. Ok, I did say something, but I decided it wasn't worth the fight and I was late for work. Let her freeze. I did make her take a pair of warmer pants with her. I'm sure they are on the floor of the youth center right now being stepped on with muddy shoes. She's probably telling the other kids to do it on purpose!! Choose your battles. Safe & Sound Autumn was returned to us in the same condition as when we left her. All is well again. She didn't say as much, but I know she missed me. She was all whiney and didn't want to go to bed. Yosemite The chick has left the nest! At 8:00 am this morning, my child left me standing in the cold as she took off for her 3 day excursion to Yosemite. I would tell you that I feel like vomiting, but two post about vomit in one week is just gross. She was not the picture of a happy camper this morning. I couldn't get her to eat any breakfast this morning. She must have been feeling the nautious feelings I was having. She didn't put on the brand new jacket I bought her this weekend. The jacket Michael wanted to "discuss" because it was so friggen expensive. I'm sure it will look great on the tiny bear that finds it in the woods. As I sit here I'm thinking, why? What on earth was I thinking of letting my small 11 year old child go to Yosemite without a parent? Am I nuts??? They are gonna go hiking. AT NIGHT. What the hell is up with that??? Are they trying to lose a kid or two? I'm telling myself right now it really wouldn't make a difference if I were there or not because you don't get to hike with her kid anyway. Can you imagine? I don't want to hike with other people kids! I hope the person taking her hiking doesn't feel the same way. I don't think I can spend any more time thinking about this right now. I'll never be able to get the krinkle out of my forehead if I do. I need you to be there for me people. Circle the wagons. Tummy Ache Autumn is home with the flu today. I know she's really sick because she didn't even argue with me about still going to school. Plus the puddle of sickness beside her bed was a dead give away. I love waking up to that in the morning don't you? I feel guilty that she didn't come wake me up. Sorta proud that she was a big girl and was taking care of herself. Sorta pissed because she is not very good at cleaning up her little messes. I'm trying really hard not to use the word vomit. oops!
